Joe Rogan means business. The comedian, UFC commentator, and host to the world's largest podcast is challenging 270 doctors and scientists to a fight. Combat can be at the time of the choosing of the 270 and can be at the arena of their choice.
The mercurial Rogan made the announcement on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. He was in the midst of reading the letter the 270 doctors and scientists wrote to Spotify regarding the substantial amount of medical misinformation coming out of his show.
"This lady doctor says I'm a menace to public health," Rogan said to his producer Lickspittle Jamie. "She's not going to be saying anything when we get into the ring and I choke her out in a rear-naked choke."
Spotify is the world's largest streaming service of audio content to millions of paid subscribers. While the company states it supports free speech on its platform, many experts think Spotify believes in making a profit is more important than the public good.
Professor Andrew Canard studies fascism and media at Miskatonic University in Providence, Rhode Island. He believes Joe Rogan's job is safe.
"Spotify paid millions to get Rogan on their service," Professor Andrew Canard said. "The man has millions of rabid fans will very little critical thinking skills. There's no way Spotify is going to do anything about the situation."
The 270 medical professionals have not yet responded to the invitation.
